Brotino The Legendary Crab is a tale that motivates the common person. It shows that we do not have to be born into greatness to be great. Also it exhibits the power of teamwork and how this can change one’s destiny, perhaps of a whole village too, or even the world. It takes one person to want to make that change and by attracting like-minded people, much can be done to better everyone's lives. Phoebe has captured these concepts really well in her story and has provided an opportunity for young children to understand this easily. At a time when most children are too engrossed in games that perpetuate violence and aggression, this book teaches compassion and empathy, which is much needed in our world now…

Phoebe Li-Yen Yong, age 11, is a Year 6 student at Taylor’s International School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In Year 5, she received an award for “Excellence in English”. She is the younger sister to a musically-talented sister, Kimberly; a daughter to an event-planning mother, Joanne and a “head-hunting” father, Victor. She loves reading, writing, drawing, spending hours on electronic gadgets, collecting squishies and beautiful pop-up books, snorkelling and dogs! Brotino The Legendary Crab is her debut story book for children. She aspires to be a writer and an illustrator. Phoebe lives in Kuala Lumpur with her family and two pet turtles (and dreams of having a pet dog someday!).
