This introduction to constitutional law was designed as a textbook for readers without any previous knowledge of public law. Basic principles of constitutional law are discussed. The opening introduction is followed by a presentation of constitutionally formative principle decisions pertinent to the republic, democracy, the federal state, the social state, and the constitutional state. Individual basic rights are then addressed with a focus on general basic law doctrine.
